After several delays, we are pleased to announce that the Wildlife Drive at Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge is finally open. We are sorry for the inconvenience to visitors and the lost opportunities for birding along the road. But, the result has been completion of building the infrastructure that will restore a 940 acre wetland. This is the largest wetland restoration in the history of the refuge and the largest such project in the entire Great lakes region in the last several decades. Further, it will greatly improve the quality of birding along the Wildlife Drive for years to come.
Let me know if you have any questions.
