Snowy's Yet?

Postby MikeW » Wed Dec 28, 2016 11:08 pm

Just wondering if anyone is seeing any Snowy's yet? I am in the UP now in Houghton and passed through Rudyard on the way up, but didn't see any on the loop that day (Monday). Just wondering if any have been seen in the McBain area yet this winter. Thanks in advance for any info anyone might have.
Thanks,
Mike

I was wondering about the Snowy's in the Rudyard area too. I am going up tomorrow morning with a friend (who has never seen one) we are hoping to see some Snowy's!

Just got home from the U.P.--Rudyard area....yes! there are Snowy's! We saw 4, not as many as some years, but they are there!

Did some snowy hunting in the McBain area today. We found 4, 2 on M 66, 1 on DeYoung Road and 1 on Myering Road. It's early so perhaps we will get more in that area.

Thanks for the replies and info. I just got home from the UP and on the way we went through the area south of the town of Drafter and saw 2 on 5 1/2 mile near M129. Saw another 2 around the town of Rudyard and a nice almost pure white male on the Rudyard loop (about half way down Hantz Rd on the east side of I75).
Have a great weekend,
Mike

I still have not seen any in the Petoskey area yet. I keep looking in the areas that I have seen them before. If anyone does see one, please give a shout out.

We are seeing Snowy Owls down here in Ottawa County. Multiple sightings near Coopersville. Also nice look at a Norther Harrier in same area.

Awesome capture of the Harrier, Cvc!

I know Kim has been up the UP and has posted a bunch of Snowy pics on FB... One of them was totally pure white too. I've also seen reports/pics of Snowies down in Gratiot and Tuscola Counties.
