EBird sighting question Prairie Warbler

Postby Joe Green » Fri May 26, 2017 6:24 pm

Hello, everyone.
Been a while since I've been here and posted anything. This is more of a question really. I was scrolling through some eBird sightings here in Northwest Lower and came across a couple of reports of Prairie Warblers in Sleeping Bear Dunes NL. It was my understanding that last confirmed sightings in the SBDNL were many years ago. Is this the case, or have there continued to be regular reliable sightings of this species to this day? Any info on this species in NWLower would be appreciated.

Joe, a reliable location for the Prairie Warbler is along the shorelines of Lake Michigan
Recreation Area south of Manistee. The area is much closer to Manistee than Ludington,
and there is a stairway down to the lakeshore. Prairie Warblers can be heard from the
dunes in that area. We have several times walked the beach and found them. I do not
know of a location North of Manistee.
