Redstart?

Postby TinaTC » Sat Jul 22, 2017 6:37 pm

Warning: Bad photos.

I've seen this bird in my birch tree before, but can never get a good pic. I thought it was a warbler. This time it was taking a bath in the sprinkler and staying well hid in the branches. I did the best I could. It's small, black with orange on the wings. I found a pic online that looked similar and it's a redstart. I'm unfamiliar with them. Could it be?

Yes, looks to me to be an adult male American redstart, about midway through his molt.
