Winter Finches!

On 29 Aug, I found 10 red crossbills at Thompson's Harbor State Park, Presque Isle County, Mi. They were along Old State Road, about 150' past the turn-off to the DNR Stone Path cabin. Today (9/9), there were two red crossbills in a spruce tree at this site. Shortly after seeing them, I stopped along the main Trailhead road to THSP, and, to my surprise, there were 10 pine siskins.
With a very good crop of spruce pinecones locally, bring on the finches!!
