Saw some Snowy's in the Petoskey area!

Postby silverowl » Tue Feb 06, 2018 11:06 pm

I read Rick's nice report of what he and Bonnie saw in the EUP. I just wanted to make a note to those of you out there, that on several occasions now, I have spotted 3 different individual Snowy's here in the Petoskey area. I have seen them in the Atkins Rd./McDougal Rd./Haas Rd. area, and in the Leers Rd. (Walmart) area. Two of them are quite dark, and one is fairly white. I don't get much time to bird anymore, but I still try!

Hi Donna, I am glad you have been out and able to see the Snowy Owls in the Petoskey area. I have been seeing the one on McDougal south of Atkins every now and then on trips around town. I have not seen one in the Lowes/Walmart area since very early in the winter. The one we had overlooking the fields on the top of Short's Hill near where we live moved on shortly after Christmas.

Glad to hear you've been getting out there Donna! It's been so darn cold, I barely get out to fill the bird feeders lately! :o
