Big New Cry Babies

Postby SandyLee » Fri Aug 14, 2009 1:34 pm

This past week Mama Pileated finally brought baby to the feeder for "suet lessons"! "Baby" is as big as Mom, but sure makes cute little baby-type noises....a lot like a nuthatch, while he's waiting on the tree to be fed!

And just this week, daddy Red Bellied Woodpecker showed up with TWO new babies in tow! (second brood!)... They cry a lot! And Dad looks like they are literally running (flying?) him ragged! :D

Isn't it funny how the babies seem to be ok while Mom and Dad are away for a few, but when they return the babies turn into such cry babies! Makes me chuckle everytime.
I love watching DAD do the Mom duties too....I've been watching some very attentive male Cardinals and Rose Breasted Grosbeaks this summer. It's really touching to see the guys doing the rearing.
