I'm not sure if this is something to post here or not, but I thought some folks might be interested. A lot around waterfowl and a photography contest, so I thought I would pass it on. Many of you may already know about it or get the DNR emails yourself, but others probably don't. Anyway, here is the email...

Annual Saginaw Bay Waterfowl Festival Returns to Bay City State Recreation Area Aug. 2-3

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Frank N. Anderson Foundation will host the annual Saginaw Bay Waterfowl Festival Aug. 2-3 at the Bay City State Recreation Area's Saginaw Bay Visitor Center.

Activities run 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. A Recreation Passport will be required for each vehicle that enters the park for the festival. Passports are $11 for those who have not gotten them with their vehicle registration and can be purchased at the park the day of the festival or at any state park prior to the festival.

The weekend’s festivities include a hunting and outdoor recreation expo, the Michigan Duck and Goose Calling Contest, the 2015 Michigan Duck Hunters Association Michigan Duck Stamp Competition, adult and youth duck calling clinics, a wildlife arts and crafts show, and a wildlife carving show.

Special guest exhibitors include wildlife taxidermist Gary Ebel, waterfowl carver Calvin McLeod, wildlife artist Chris Smith and wildlife photographer Tim Kaufman.

Other activities include Wildlife Recovery live animal presentations, a waterfowl ID trail, parent/youth canoe races, a ducky craft corner, a wildlife photography contest with professional, amateur and junior divisions, a quack-athlon, sporting dog puppies for sale, retrieving dog demonstrations, water safety demonstrations, retrieving dog fun trials, special presentations by the DNR Wildlife and Law Enforcement divisions, outdoor and conservation information booths and much more. Kids can earn a Junior Ranger Patch by visiting selected booths.

Other sponsors who make the Saginaw Bay Waterfowl Festival possible include the Friends of Bay City State Recreation Area, Michigan Duck Hunters Association, Cabela’s, Ducks Unlimited, the Michigan Waterfowl Legacy, Frank’s Great Outdoors and the Dow Corporation.
