Krautwurm's Fritillary

Bonnie did her North American Butterfly Association butterfly count at Seney/Fox River, 25th year and with an early flight season and good weather we had an excellent count with near high species count and a count high for Monarch's of 192 individual adult butterflies. Flights were about ten days to two weeks advanced so we got species like Hairstreaks that normally fly a bit later in the summer. We did get Great Spangled Fritillaries, but missed on seeing the Krautwurm's Fritillary on the count. But, the next day Bonnie came back from taking our English Setter Emmie for a walk and said that there was a Krautwurm's Fritillary out at the end of our driveway at our camp in Alger County. We do not mow the ditch so we have one of only patches of Common Milkweed and lots of Daisies and Black-eyed Susans. It hung around for a few days and allowed for photos in the mornings.
