So glad you did this informative article. Always being a point and shoot person, I have been trying to do more the last couple of years with a fuji film finepix 1000 with a 12x zoom. I have done more, but not near what I want. I am ready for DSLR and talking to people about theirs etc. So I am not familiar with manual settings, and I printed out your article.
