Seney NWR July 4th Weekend

Postby MikeW » Fri Jul 08, 2016 10:26 pm

I made a trip to Seney and got there after dark on Friday, July 1st thanks to all the traffic issues on I75 north. But was able to get out bright and early (well, still actually dark) on Saturday morning. I stayed through about 11am on Monday before heading home. Quite a few Loons with young, which is why I went in the first place, but also managed to see a lot more and come home with some shots I'm happy with. Still going through the photos deleting the ones I don't want to keep and will try to process more soon and post them. I did get this shot of a Cedar Waxwing that was eating berries. I believe it was a young bird as it would not eat the berry until it mushed it up a bit and it also did not have the yellow tips on the tail feathers grown in yet. Anyway, here is one of him...more to come.

Thanks Dale.

Here are a few more from that weekend...still going through them, but I thought I'd go ahead and post a couple more. These are all pretty cropped and the landing shots had some really bad light from the wrong direction, but I've only seen this twice and it was the first time with a camera in hand, so I couldn't pass it up.

Love 'em, Mike! Loons sure aren't the most graceful "water-landers"!

The little chick-flap is totally precious!
