A Few From the UP

Postby MikeW » Wed Jan 04, 2017 12:17 am

I made a trip to the UP the week between Christmas and New Years to do some winter photography and look for some birds. We did find a few Snowy's on the way home but they did not present any good photo opportunities. We had heard about some Bohemian Waxwings near Munising and looked for them but didn't find any. The day after the trip the reports said there were 3 large flocks of them in town...sometimes timing is everything. Anyway, I thought I would post a few photos from the trip, I hope you enjoy them.

This one was closer to sunset

I love Wagner Falls and this is the first opportunity I had to photograph it in the winter

I took this view because it is close in composition to the spring and fall photos I have of this waterfall. All I need now is the summer photo.

A bit of current below Bond Falls that I found interesting

Here are a couple shots of some river ice formed below Bond Falls. I've always found these to be interesting and there are never two alike.

Absolutely beautiful, Mike! That first image of the lighthouse is outstanding!

All the waterfalls are wonderful... They seem even more spectacular in the winter. Great work! :W

Very beautiful! I have to get up there soon, since this is where one of my sons live and they will be moving in a year or so (to points unknown at this time).

I have to say, all of you who photograph, sure show us what a beautiful State we live in! Thank you!

Thanks Donna. You're right, there is a lot of beauty in Michigan if one just gets out and looks around.
Everyone have a great weekend,
Mike
