Northern Hawk Owl, Petoskey

From a Mich-lister's post:

Dear birders,

This afternoon (Dec. 15) between 3:45 & 4:30 p.m. we observed the Northern Hawk Owl that had been found near Harbor Springs yesterday during the Petoskey Regional Audubon Society's Christmas Bird Count. Today the owl was perched at the very top of a big maple tree on Emmet Heights Road about 0.4 miles north of Quick Road, just south of Catob Road. Today's location is approx. 0.5 miles north of where it was reported yesterday.

This morning we watched two Great Black-backed Gulls flying around Harbor Point, and also saw a huge flock of over 100 Bohemian Waxwings feeding on bittersweet fruit near a red barn on the SE corner of the intersection of Quick Road & Emmet Heights Road.

Good birding!
