Dale's MI Orchids: Part Three!

More incredible Michigan Orchids from Dale and Ruth.... ENJOY!

"The next two pictures are of the Genus Calopogon. The common
name for this orchid is Grass Pink. We are presenting two pictures
of the same orchid so you can see the variations in color you might
find should you look for it.
The first picture is the very light "shell" pink, an unusual color.
The second picture is more the normal color of the orchid. Usually
found in large numbers, these photographs were taken in Presque
Isle and Crawford Counties. The plant likes rich sphagnum and
wet sedge mats. Spruce and Tamarack are common in the area.
4 inches to 18 inches tall, it flowers in late June in to July.
Next time we will present two other orchids often found with this one.
