Postby SandyLee » Fri Sep 19, 2014 12:03 pm

...Thanks Dale! These are stunning!

In this post we will present three species from the Cypridedium Genus, or Lady's-slipper's.

First is Cypridedium candidum, or Small White Lady's-slipper. Photographed in Oakland Co., these can be found in large groups on moist soil, usually in a prairie setting. 4" - 16" tall.
A very small orchid. Note the yellowish-green sepals.

Our second orchid is Cypridedium x andrewsii, or Andrews Lady's-slipper, a hybrid of the Small White and the Small Yellow Lady's-slipper that we presented in an earlier posting. 4" -
15" tall, this orchid shows much darker sepals, often dark brown. The
orchid itself is more of an ivory color. Photo from Oakland Co.
