MORE! ... Per Dale!

The first orchid pictured is the Green Fringed Orchid, or sometimes
referred to as the Ragged Fringed Orchid. Earlier we pictured the Small
Purple, Yellow, White, and Eastern Prairie Fringed Orchids. This one is
not as picturesque as those, but still has a beauty of its own. This
orchid likes wet meadows in sandy soil, and each time I have seen this
orchid there have been several in the area. Stands 8" - 32" tall.
Found statewide, this one was photographed in Chippewa Co.

Our next orchid is the Green Adder's Mouth, Malaxis unifolia. Likes
mossy, wet bogs and cedar swamps. Is found from the southern border of
the State through the Upper Peninsula. Usually alone or in scattered
colonies. 2 1/2" - 8" tall. This photograph from Mackinac Co., and
presented to show the unique form of the orchid. Note one leaf on the

Pictured next is Plantanthera macrophylla or Goldie's Round-leaved
Orchid. You will note that this orchid is very similar to an earlier
posted orchid, the Large Round-leaved Orchid. The difference being
largely in the length of the spur, with this orchid having very long
spurs, (28mm - 40mm). Note that the spurs extend past the spike. This
orchid not as common as the former, and pictured here from Alger Co. A
dry forest orchid.

In our next posting we will present three remaining coral-roots.
