Just another Fungus

Saw this cool fungus growing on a downed birch tree in the Deyoung nature preserve during a hike yesterday....looked kinda cool...

Havent really retained too much knowledge on Fungus and mushrooms etc.. but I do definitely find them ever so interesting*LOL
When I come across a few shots I shall place them in your (birdforum) folder and submit them here..

Yes! Great shot Sandlylee! Wonder what it's name is *LOL Fruiting bodies of decay fungi. :Y :lol:

What do you know I came across and saved*lol
Here you go, actually this isn't the end of them.I guess I should make a folder for Fungus now*lol
This my friend is Bird Nest Fungus.
It is said the seed is formed inside to feed the birds when food is scarcest, so down comes the rain, as it rains the seed "pop" out, thus feeding little birdies..
I actually saw this happen :D :D

Not certain the id but here are a few more.
I have found them very interesting to take pics of identifying isn't as much fun but turns out helpful.

No clue as to how I did it but I did!

This was sitting under a ladies tree at a Walk I went to years ago.She had tons of them!
